Descaling and cleaning -

What is the difference?

Descaling removes harmful limescale from the water-carrying parts. Regular descaling prevents pipes from becoming clogged and thus prevents defects. Cleaning removes unhygienic coffee residues such as coffee oils, coffee fats and powder residues in the brewing unit up to the coffee outlet. This is also important to prevent bacteria from accumulating. This is because oily coffee residues, together with heat and moisture, are an ideal breeding ground. Descalers and cleaners therefore fulfil very different tasks in coffee machine care and should therefore always be used in combination.

Fully automatic coffee machines & espresso machines

With these types of machines, it is particularly important not only to carry out regular descaling but also to clean the appliance and remove any coffee residues. These deposits collect primarily in the grinding unit of fully automatic machines and in the portafilters of espresso machines. This not only causes a hygiene problem but also has an adverse effect on the flavor of the coffee.
